Since there was a sharp rise in the demand for flexible, multi-use transport vehicles in the early stages of the German economic miracle, Volkswagen started production of the VW Type 2 in 1950. This all-rounder, which was affectionately known as the „VW Bulli“ by its many fans, developed into the outstanding workhorse of the economic upturn in the Germany of the 1950s.

Whether as a closed panel van, flatbed truck, bus or deluxe bus in the „Samba“ version, the VW T1 was characterised in all areas of application by its outstanding reliability and versatility. A comprehensive Volkswagen dealer and service network also ensured high levels of customer satisfaction and widespread use of the VW Transporter by small, medium-sized and larger companies. Its likeable and unmistakable design have also contributed to the vehicle‘s cult status today.

Schuco is going to produce in a limited edition of 750 pieces a miniature model of this VW T1b Samba to a scale of 1:18. The Schuco model features a multitude of lovingly crafted details and moving parts. The doors, bonnet and tailgate can all be opened. The model has a functioning steering system and there is also a key for the ignition lock. It‘s precisely what a metal model should be!
